The Edmonton Oilers officially announced the seasoned Mike Babcock as their new head coach position on Tuesday.
He simply replaces Jay Woodcroft, who was let off without further comment after last season.
The NHL has clearly cleared Babcock following an investigation into previous behaviour.
This will be Babcock’s first NHL role since stepping away from the sport for several years.
The decision was confirmed in a press release released from the club and reported by major outlets including national press.
The league’s clearance effectively clears the way for Babcock to lead the Oilers in the upcoming season that is on the horizon.
Fans and analysts will watch how the former Stanley Cup winner adapts to his new duties this year.
