The Rugby Football League has launched an inquiry into Wakefield Trinity. Following this St Helens filing a complaint about a disputed bid for Harry Robertson.
In a statement, St Helens said it thinks Wakefield may have violated membership rules. The RFL said it will examine the evidence and determine if any violations occurred.
Team representatives have been requested to submit documents. RFL officials will meet club reps soon.
The findings could impact contracts as the league play progresses.
