Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson star in Die My Love, a film described as "fierce, angry, and engaged." After its Cannes debut earlier this year, director Lynne Ramsay’s much-anticipated adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel finally releases this week.
The story follows Grace, played by Oscar-winning Jennifer Lawrence, and her husband Jackson, portrayed by Robert Pattinson. It centers on Grace's experience with bipolar disorder while exploring infidelity, parenthood, and postnatal depression. The film offers a raw and passionate account over two intense hours.
"I related to her writer's block, to her sex life going totally to pot and other universal struggles," Lynne Ramsay said. "But I didn't approach the project thinking Grace only has postnatal depression. It has to be more layered than that."
At the start, Grace and Jackson’s relationship thrives as they move into a new house in Montana: they blast music, dance freely, and are intimate frequently. But after Grace gives birth, things shift. Jackson’s job demands take him away from home, despite him keeping a box of condoms in the glovebox, leaving Grace alone in their fixer-upper.
Die My Love offers a layered and emotionally charged portrayal of a troubled marriage and mental health struggles, led by powerful performances from its two leads.
