A remarkable Remembrance Sunday display showcasing community spirit and remembrance will be featured at St Editha’s Church. The project was led by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant at Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
Maureen crafted a beautiful poppy-themed art installation with assistance from her daughter and granddaughter. The installation will be prominently displayed at the church entrance as part of the Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
The poppy display was created in the Annandale communal lounge, which became a hub of creativity. With support from her family and the Tamworth Borough Council’s Scheme Manager, Maureen brought her vision to life through a stunning collection of handcrafted poppies, each symbolizing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who served.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth.
Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
The project holds special meaning for Maureen, reflecting her own time in service and making the tribute deeply personal.
Maureen will have the honour of accompanying the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday service at St Editha’s Church.
