Get an exclusive look at a conversation between Ethan Hawke and his co-star Kyle MacLachlan. Warning: This contains major spoilers for The Lowdown Season 1 Episode 8, “The Sensitive Kind.”
The FX noir series The Lowdown, created by Sterlin Harjo, concluded its first season with a dramatic revelation about Dale Washberg’s (Tim Blake Nelson) death. Tulsa’s "trusthstorian," Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke), uncovered the mystery surrounding the case.
The episode, titled “The Sensitive Kind,” picks up immediately after Lee chased Akron businessman Frank (Tracy Letts) into the One Well Church, commanded by Mark Russell (Paul Sparks). Upon realizing the danger posed by neo-Nazis there, Lee is confronted by Marty (Keith David), who claims to be undercover and takes Lee into custody.
The escape attempt was short-lived as the men ran out the door into Lee’s van. During the getaway, Marty was grazed by a stray bullet from the pursuing One Well group. Though they managed to escape, Lee soon faced repercussions.
Artist Chutto (Mato Wayuhi) retaliated by smashing the window of Lee’s shop, furious over the death of his grandfather Arthur (Graham Greene). This was indirectly caused when Lee called Betty Jo (Jeanne Tripplehorn), who then dispatched Frank to find Dale’s lost will.
"The mystery behind Dale Washberg’s death was unraveled by Tulsa’s resident 'trusthstorian,' Lee Raybon."
"Marty got grazed by a stray bullet when the One Well group charged after them, guns ablaze."
"Chutto broke Lee's shop window in retaliation for his grandfather’s death, unknowingly set in motion by Lee's call to Betty Jo."
Ethan Hawke hints at hopes for a second season, building on the unresolved conflicts and deepening mysteries from the explosive finale.
This finale reveals hidden dangers and personal losses while setting the stage for more suspense in the show's future seasons.
