The iconic 1962 Jean Louis gown, last auctioned for $5 million, suffered noticeable wear after Kim Kardashian wore it at the 2022 Met Gala. The dress had a sizeable tear in the right strap, several crystals were missing, and there was stretching around the back seam.
On Monday, Kim Kardashian faced questioning while strapped to a lie detector during a conversation with her All's Fair castmate, Teyana Taylor. The 34-year-old singer-actress pressed Kim on whether she had damaged Marilyn Monroe’s dress.
'Did you whoop Marilyn Monroe's dress?' Taylor asked twice during the Vanity Fair video.
Kardashian, the 45-year-old SKIMS CEO, firmly denied the accusation both times.
Teyana Taylor pressed further:
'So you're saying that it got to you already whooped?'
‘So when you tried it on, what was the dress giving?’
Kim responded with ambiguity:
'I don't know how it got to me, but it's perfect now.'
After twice denying damage, Kim’s composure cracked with a laugh:
'You're gonna cost me like $10M in insurance. Let's move on!'
Kardashian then turned to polygraph operator Stephanie Jackson to verify her honesty, to which Jackson confirmed:
'All of it is true.'
Kim Kardashian acknowledges possible impact on the dress but insists no lasting damage remains, confirmed by a polygraph test.
