Channel 10 is bringing back the essence of the early 2000s with the new season of Big Brother. The show has returned to its original location at Dreamworld, where the first 11 seasons were filmed from 2001 to 2014.
“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right,”
said new host Mel Tracina, a Nova radio personality.
The revival focuses on live nominations and evictions, reinforcing a return to the original format.
Despite the nostalgic return, Big Brother Uncut, the adults-only version that aired during the first six seasons, will not be revived.
“This year there’s no return of Big Brother Up Late (or Uncut),”
“We’re keeping it PG.”
Viewers will have access to a 24/7 live stream of the house, but all content will be moderated to meet broadcast standards, limiting the possibility of explicit material.
“Again, that will be moderated to make sure that everything we broadcast is up to broadcast standards.”
This moderation may disappoint longtime fans, particularly Gen X and Millennials, who fondly remember sneaking glimpses of the uncut version hoping for more adult content.
Mel Tracina confirms Big Brother’s return to its roots at Dreamworld with live events and a family-friendly approach, but without the adults-only uncut version.
