The upcoming biopics about The Beatles have officially cast Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce to portray the wives of the band members. They will play Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd, and Maureen Starkey, respectively.
Each actress joined the ambitious project titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event. Their contracts were finalized this week, prompting Sony Pictures to confirm the casting.
“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right — and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure,” said director Sam Mendes.
The series will consist of four films, each focusing on a different member of The Beatles:
The movies will follow their rise from unknown musicians in early 1960s Liverpool to becoming the biggest band worldwide, ending with their breakup in 1970.
This project marks the first time The Beatles and their descendants have granted theatrical feature film rights to depict their music and life story.
Linda McCartney, originally Linda Eastman, met Paul McCartney in 1967 while working as a photographer.
