Former India batter Robin Uthappa criticized Jasprit Bumrah's inconsistent lengths during the second T20I at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite taking two wickets and conceding only 26 runs in four overs, Bumrah's wayward lengths drew attention, especially when India scored only 125 runs.
"When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets early on, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs. I felt we were probably trying too hard to pick up wickets, so we got a little wayward,"
Uthappa pointed out that Bumrah tends to be erratic when desperate to take wickets. He emphasized that the bowler’s discipline and consistent line and length typically lead to success. Australia capitalized on Bumrah’s waywardness at the start of the innings.
Uthappa also criticized India's batting, highlighting contributions only from Abhishek Sharma’s half-century and a quick cameo from Harshit Rana, describing the overall display as disappointing.
Jasprit Bumrah's inconsistency when under pressure was a key factor in India's limited performance at Melbourne, reflecting the challenge of maintaining discipline in high-stakes moments.
