Socket preservation after tooth extraction is essential to maintain alveolar ridge dimensions, supporting future prosthetic rehabilitation. Autogenous dentin has gained attention as a valuable graft material because of its biocompatibility, osteoconductivity, and composition closely resembling bone.
In January 2025, a systematic search was performed across MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus, and Web of Science using a MeSH-based strategy. The search focused on human clinical studies published within the last ten years. Only studies comparing autogenous dentin grafts with spontaneous healing without augmentation were selected.
Six studies met the inclusion criteria and were examined in this review. All confirmed the safety and biocompatibility of autogenous dentin.
“Histological evaluations showed active bone formation around dentin particles and high osteoblastic activity without inflammatory response.”
Autogenous dentin is a reliable graft material that promotes safe and active bone regeneration, offering a valuable option for socket preservation after tooth extraction.
