Marvel Games' Executive Producer Danny Koo, currently leading the development of Marvel Rivals, shared exclusive details at gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show. With nearly 10 months since the game's launch, Koo discussed upcoming features, including a new PvE content addition and the studio's rapid hero release schedule.
Marvel Rivals is introducing its first PvE content with the limited-time Marvel Zombie Mode. This event serves as a “testbed” featuring five playable characters who battle waves of undead enemies across New York, culminating in a fight against the Queen of the Dead.
“It’s the first PvE mode for Marvel Rivals. It only has five characters right now. It’s just like a testbed to see what players like, how the system works, and hopefully in the future we’ll deploy more PvE mode based on data collected from this round of PvE event.”
The mode includes assets directly taken from Marvel Animation, offering authentic visuals such as a zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, with costumes closely resembling the animated series.
“We have a zombie Namor and a zombie Queen of the Dead from the show. The costumes are very close to the animation.”
Danny Koo’s leadership reflects Marvel Rivals’ commitment to evolving gameplay experiences and expanding content variety while closely monitoring player preferences.
Author's summary: Marvel Rivals is exploring new territory with its first PvE event, setting the stage for future content through close collaboration with Marvel Animation and ambitious development plans.
