Raiders quarterback Geno Smith injured as Las Vegas season worsens

The Las Vegas Raiders reached a new low on Thursday night when quarterback Geno Smith suffered an injury and the team fell 10-7 to the Denver Broncos.

Smith finished with 143 passing yards and one interception before getting hurt on the first play of the fourth quarter. He attempted to scramble past Denver standout Nik Bonitto, who made contact with Smith’s right knee. After taking a few unstable steps, Smith collapsed and was brought down by Malcolm Roach.

Kenny Pickett briefly replaced Smith before the starter reentered the game, only to be later listed as questionable due to a left quadriceps issue.

The night worsened for Las Vegas as guards Dylan Parham and Jackson Powers-Johnson also exited with ankle injuries. According to coach Pete Carroll, Powers-Johnson is expected to miss significant time.

“It was a tough night for our offense. We just couldn’t find any rhythm,” said coach Pete Carroll.

The Raiders managed only 188 total yards, dropping their record to 2-7 for the season.
