Former NFL player Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai and will be taken to Miami to face an attempted murder charge linked to a shooting outside a boxing event earlier this year.
The 37-year-old All-Pro wide receiver, best known for his 12-season career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, allegedly fired two shots at a man after an argument at an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on May 16.
According to an arrest warrant issued in June, Brown “appeared to grab a black firearm from the right hip area” of a security officer and fired at a man identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
Authorities stated that Brown had not returned to Florida following the incident. He was reportedly in Dubai attempting to avoid U.S. law enforcement.
Officials confirmed that Brown arrived from Dubai through Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail on Thursday. The U.S. spokesperson noted that his transfer to South Florida is scheduled, but the exact date remains uncertain.
Video shared on social media showed Brown in a physical altercation at the event hosted by streamer and internet personality Adin Ross.
