LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith threw for four touchdowns and nearly 300 yards in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Raiders will now travel to face the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, relying on Smith to maintain his strong performance.
Life will be different for Smith with the recent trade of wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, which occurred shortly before the trade deadline.
“That's important. I mean, there's a great pass rush on every single defense in the NFL. And protecting our guys up front with getting the ball out, not holding it too long, is very important. And it's important that our guys are running their routes and getting to the spots. The protection is critical up front, and then obviously me being accurate with the ball, getting it out on time and on rhythm allowing us to succeed and be at our best self.”
“Yeah, Jakobi [Meyers], hardworking guy, extremely hard working. A guy who knows the game in and out, man, like he understands the game. And he was a valuable asset for us on the offense.”
Author’s summary: Geno Smith remains a key leader for the Raiders as the team adjusts to Jakobi Meyers’ trade and prepares for a challenging matchup against Denver’s fierce defense.
