Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment stands out as a strong entry in the spin-off saga. While a few issues linger, it pushes the series forward with more depth and variety in its fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay.
Over the years, there have been countless Dynasty Warriors collaborations, spanning popular anime like Gundam, Berserk, and One Piece, as well as video game partnerships with Persona and Fire Emblem.
The 2014 release of Hyrule Warriors and its follow-up, Age of Calamity, earned praise for merging Omega Force’s grand-scale action with the beloved world of The Legend of Zelda — complete with its memorable heroes, settings, and foes. Age of Imprisonment deepens this connection even further, often feeling less like a typical musou title and more like a fresh Zelda adventure.
Despite these improvements, the game still may not appeal to players who were never fans of this style. However, loyal followers will find meaningful progress and numerous refinements that enhance the overall experience.
"The game's story is the most obvious aspect where the two series are aligned."
Blending the action of Omega Force with the heart of The Legend of Zelda, Age of Imprisonment delivers a refined and ambitious chapter in the Hyrule Warriors franchise.
