The second season of Prime Video’s popular show Maxton Hall is set to return this November. Despite only 18 months passing since the first season aired, it feels much longer for fans eager for more.
This German-language series, adapted from a book, first premiered in May 2024. It centers on Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James Beaufort (Damian Hardung), and is set in an exclusive private school. The show uses classic tropes such as enemies-to-lovers to develop its storyline.
James is the school's golden boy, while Ruby is a scholarship student who uncovers a secret in the very first episode. Their relationship is marked by tension, with James displaying threatening behavior and Ruby responding with sharp retorts.
"James and Ruby had reconciled, but then he learns of his mother’s death and has a huge (and physical) fight with his dad, which forces him to leave his house and seek comfort with Ruby. But when he arrives at her home, he sees how happy she is with her family, so he walks away alone so he doesn’t burden her with his devastation."
While the series follows a well-known romance formula, the German-language cast was uncertain about its reception upon release.
The second season of Maxton Hall promises to continue its gripping blend of romance and drama as it returns to Australian screens this November.
