Soldier Takes Own Life After Killing Wife in Niger
The Nigerian Army confirmed that Lance Corporal Akenleye Femi took his own life after allegedly killing his wife at Wawa Cantonment in Niger State.
The incident occurred on October 11, 2025, and was announced by Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the soldier, who was on duty within the cantonment, had sought permission from his superior to attend to personal needs and return to duty. It was thereafter that the bodies of the soldier and his wife were discovered.
- The lifeless bodies of the couple were found in their apartment at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Below Quarters, Wawa Cantonment.
