Former NFL player Antonio Brown has returned to the United States to face trial for a Miami shooting incident that took place nearly six months ago.
Brown, 37, was extradited from Dubai and taken into custody at Newark Airport in Essex County, New Jersey. Authorities have not yet disclosed when he will be transferred to South Florida for trial.
The arrest warrant was issued in June, with police indicating Brown was overseas but without specifying his location. Following the warrant, Brown hired an attorney who secured a $10,000 bond including house arrest, though Brown did not comply with returning to South Florida.
During this period, Brown posted images and videos from Dubai, some showing him seemingly mocking the charges he faces in Miami.
U.S. Marshals traveled abroad to apprehend Brown and bring him back to the United States.
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on May 17 near 221 NE 67th St in Miami. Police responded after an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system but made no arrests at the time. No injuries were reported after questioning witnesses at the scene.
