A version of this article appeared in the November 2025 issue of Esquire Spain magazine.
On 26 November, Netflix’s Stranger Things begins its three-part farewell. The first four episodes of season eight will launch on Thanksgiving Day, followed by three episodes on Christmas Day, and the series finale on New Year’s Eve. This will close a decade-long chapter for David Harbour, who gained worldwide recognition as Jim Hopper, the police chief in Hawkins, Indiana.
Fans have eagerly awaited this moment, and the final months of 2025 have brought intense media focus on Harbour, especially after the surprise release of a new album last week, which drastically increased attention on him.
In September, before the album release, Esquire Spain’s Rafael Sánchez Casademont spoke with Harbour about his career, the bittersweet conclusion of Stranger Things, and his future plans. The interview has been edited for clarity and length.
"When I was a kid it was this magical place. I grew up about an hour outside the city, in a suburban town in Westchester."
David Harbour reflects on his journey with Stranger Things, the emotional end of the series, and the evolving focus of his career as he embraces new opportunities.
