Algerian national Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, aged 24, was accidentally released from HMP Wandsworth in south London on 29 October. The incident was captured exclusively by Sky News.
Sky News confronted Kaddour-Cherif shortly before his arrest in Finsbury Park, north London, around 11:30 a.m. He initially denied his identity, claiming to be another person, but police soon intervened beside a nearby van and detained him.
One of the officers identified Kaddour-Cherif by a noticeable facial feature.
“He was recognized as the missing prisoner because he had a distinctive wonky nose,” said one of the officers.
During the arrest, the man shouted at onlookers as police compared his face with a photograph displayed on a phone, confirming his identity before the arrest was finalized.
