Stars of Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman gathered at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on November 6 for a screening of the Season 2 opener. Although Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton didn't grow up in Fort Worth, he calls it his favorite city in the United States.
“For years and years, it was kind of the little sister to the big sister, and Fort Worth is really getting its due now,” said Thornton.
Thornton enjoys highlighting Fort Worth’s Western culture and values the city as the main filming location for his latest television project. Alongside him, cast members Sam Elliott, Paulina Chávez, Michelle Randolph, and James Jordan attended the event. Co-creator Taylor Sheridan was absent, but his wife, Nicole Muirbrook, represented him.
The premiere was hosted by the Fort Worth Film Commission in partnership with the Lone Star Film Festival, which concluded its screenings in November.
Landman centers on Tommy Norris (played by Thornton), who manages challenging lease negotiations with landowners for energy development. The show explores tense relationships among corporate leaders, Mexican drug cartels, and oil and gas workers in the Permian Basin.
Summary: The “Landman” cast, led by Billy Bob Thornton, celebrated their Season 2 premiere in Fort Worth, a city Thornton praises for its growing recognition and vital role in the show’s production.
