Over 2,000 returned ballot envelopes discovered amid Maricopa County inspection

Over 2,000 Returned Ballot Envelopes Found During Maricopa County Inspection

On Friday morning, election workers in Maricopa County, Arizona, inspected voting equipment from locations throughout the county. During this process, officials discovered two boxes of returned green affidavit envelopes.

According to county officials, a total of 2,288 green affidavit envelopes were found. These envelopes were supposed to be counted on election night but had been mistakenly placed in a return box by poll workers.

“The boxes were secure with their tamper-evident seals,” officials said.

The county noted that all envelopes were being signature-verified on Friday morning. Those with valid signatures would then be processed for tabulation and included in the upcoming election results update scheduled for Friday afternoon.

After the discovery, a bipartisan team of election officials took custody of the boxes to maintain the proper chain of custody procedures.

Summary

During an equipment inspection, Maricopa County officials found over 2,000 sealed ballot envelopes that had been misplaced by poll workers; all are now undergoing verification and counting.
