Pope Leo XIV: AI Must Reflect the Design of God the Creator

Pope Leo XIV addressed participants of the Builders AI Forum 2025 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, calling for artificial intelligence to advance human dignity, justice, and the common good.

In his message, the Pope thanked scientists, entrepreneurs, and pastoral leaders who strive to harmonize innovation with the Church’s mission through research, creativity, and pastoral vision.

“The question is not merely what AI can do, but who we are becoming through the technologies we build.”

He emphasized that artificial intelligence, like every human creation, stems from the creative power given by God. Thus, technological innovation can become an act of participating in divine creation.

“Every design choice expresses a vision of humanity.”

Pope Leo XIV underlined the ethical and spiritual dimension of technology, encouraging developers to integrate moral discernment into their work. He asked innovators to build systems that express justice, solidarity, and genuine respect for life.

The Pope concluded that this ethical commitment should extend beyond laboratories or business decisions to shape a culture guided by reverence for human values.
