Lucy Liu takes on one of the most powerful roles of her career in Rosemead, the debut film from cinematographer-turned-director Eric Lin. The movie, inspired by a true story, centers on a mother’s relentless struggle to protect her troubled son.
Rosemead was an official selection at the Tribeca Film Festival and won awards at both the Bentonville and Locarno Film Festivals. It is set to open in New York on December 5 and in Los Angeles on December 12, 2025, with a wider theatrical release to follow.
The story follows a woman battling illness who takes increasingly desperate steps to shield her teenage son, played by Lawrence Shou. As his behavior worsens and tensions rise within their Chinese American community, the boundaries between love and survival blur.
