Lucy Liu Debuts Her Shortest Haircut in Years

Lucy Liu has embraced a new look with a lob haircut, showcased in her upcoming drama Rosemead. This marks a notable change from her previous roles.

New Hairstyle in Rosemead

The Charlie's Angels alum unveiled her shorter, side-parted hair just above the collarbone in the film’s trailer. The movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and will be released in theaters on December 5.

About the Film

Rosemead follows the story of Irene (Liu) and her son Joe (Lawrence Shou) as they navigate the challenges following Joe's schizophrenia diagnosis. The film is adapted from a 2017 Los Angeles Times article by Frank Shyong titled A dying mother's plan: Buy a gun. Kill her son.

Lucy Liu’s Perspective

“As there was not a lot that was known about this family, the script had to be pieced together,” Liu told Variety of Rosemead. “In some ways, it’s a little bit of a thriller, because people know the final act and some of the details, and then the rest had to be kind of filled in, in order to understand the dynamic between Irene and her son.”

This role represents a shift from Liu’s typical light-hearted and action-oriented characters, such as in Ally McBeal, Watching the Detectives, and Why Women Kill.

At the Tribeca Premiere

At the Tribeca Film Festival premiere, Liu shared her deep interest in Rosemead and similar projects during an interview with Parade.

Summary: Lucy Liu's new lob haircut accompanies a significant career shift as she stars in the dramatic film Rosemead, exploring complex family and mental health themes.
