Shoshana Bean, who starred as Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked from 2005 to 2006, revealed why she hasn't seen the first film, Wicked: Part 1, even though its sequel, Wicked: For Good, is about to premiere in theaters in November.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24 in New York City, Bean explained her choice to delay watching the first movie.
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back,” Bean, 48, shared, expressing her excitement to experience the two films consecutively.
Bean is particularly eager to see certain elements come to life on screen, especially the song “No Good Deed.” She described it as “a very cinematic song” that deserves a presentation beyond the capabilities of the stage.
“I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create,” Bean said about the film’s director and his vision for the adaptation.
Shoshana Bean looks forward to watching the Wicked films back-to-back, excited to see the cinematic potential of songs like “No Good Deed” brought to life on the big screen.
