Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s IT: Welcome to Derry may be a prequel rooted in established IP, but it has quickly become one of the stronger adaptations of Stephen King’s universe. The first two episodes of the horror thriller received generally positive reviews for their atmosphere and storytelling.
The third episode is set to premiere on November 9, returning to its regular schedule after a special Halloween release. A new trailer for the upcoming episode teases not just more scares but also a subtle nod to another story from the Stephen King multiverse.
Viewers noted several Easter eggs scattered throughout the series connecting Welcome to Derry to other King works. These include appearances of a Shawshank State Prison bus and a reference to Dick Hallorann, a character known from The Shining.
“The trailer for the third episode directly references another King adaptation.”
This new teaser continues that trend, hinting at an even deeper connection within King’s worlds. It expands the lore and interlinks the fictional towns and events that have long fascinated fans of his writing.
So far, the series has followed a dark storyline involving the deaths of three children at a theater, allegedly caused by a mutant infant. Hank Grogan, the theater’s owner, is wrongfully accused and taken into custody for the crimes he did not commit.
The third episode of IT: Welcome to Derry promises fresh terror and an intriguing crossover with another Stephen King story, further anchoring the show in the author’s shared universe.
