The new trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry episode 3 highlights a significant link to one of Stephen King's most beloved adaptations. This prequel series takes place in Derry, 27 years before the original IT movie events.
Alongside numerous ties to the IT films and novel, the show introduces Dick Halloran (played by Chris Chalk), a key figure from The Shining, weaving in plenty of subtle Stephen King Easter eggs.
The trailer features a striking moment where Hank Grogan (Stephen Rider), recently arrested and imprisoned, is asked:
“Do you know what they do to kiddy-killers in Shawshank?”
This line references the setting of King's 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, famously adapted into the acclaimed film The Shawshank Redemption.
“Step right up,”
becomes an increasingly ominous refrain as the story unfolds.
Author's summary: Episode 3 of IT: Welcome to Derry deepens its intricate links to Stephen King's universe, blending familiar characters and chilling references that enrich the story's suspense.
