Ken Jennings and “Jeopardy!”

“Jeopardy!” has consistently been one of television’s most popular shows, attracting over 5 million viewers each night. A significant factor in this success is Ken Jennings, known for his charm, intelligence, and strong Pacific Northwest roots.

Background and Career

Born in Edmonds, Washington, Jennings spent part of his childhood in South Korea and Singapore. Before his fame on “Jeopardy!”, he worked as a computer programmer. Over 20 years ago, Jennings became a contestant on the show, winning 74 consecutive games and setting a record as the highest-earning American game show contestant.

"His success and friendly demeanor drew much media attention and boosted the show’s viewership."

Following the death of Alex Trebek in 2020, Jennings was named host of the show, continuing its legacy with his approachable style.

Education and Personal Life

Jennings, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attended UW for a few years before serving a church mission in Spain. He later transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU), where he completed his degree. Alongside his computer science career, he has developed a parallel path as an author.

New Puzzle Book Promotion

Recently, Jennings returned to the Seattle area to promote his new puzzle book, The Complete Kennections: 5,000 Questions in 1,000 Puzzles, at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park. This marks his first new trivia book release in over a decade.
