Ken Jennings recently addressed a controversial clue from an episode of the game show “Jeopardy!” that left contestants and viewers equally perplexed.
During the episode, Jennings read a clue that stated, “A.I. generated the TikTok image of this pig/human eventually killed by Tim Cheese.” The contestants were unable to provide a response, and Jennings admitted his confusion before revealing the answer.
“I didn’t understand any of that,” said Ken Jennings before reading the correct response: “Who is John Pork?”
The issue wasn’t the difficulty of the question but the description of the meme character. Fans quickly took to social media to defend John Pork, insisting he was not A.I.-created.
Jennings later responded through a TikTok video posted on Saturday, explaining that he had since learned more about the meme and its origins.
“When we played a clue recently on ‘Jeopardy!’ about John Pork, I remarked that I didn’t understand a word of it,” he said. “Since then, I’ve learned quite a bit about the late Mr. Pork, including that some fans objected to us describing him as AI-generated. While AI is used in many of his TikToks, that might not have been the best way to phrase it.”
Ken Jennings apologized after a confusing “Jeopardy!” clue mischaracterized meme figure John Pork as A.I.-generated, sparking playful online backlash and a lesson in internet culture.
