The Toronto Blue Jays joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in honoring Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia during the World Series. Both teams displayed support for Vesia, who has been absent due to a family matter.
“Vesia is away from the team because of a deeply personal family matter,” the Dodgers stated on social media before Game 1.
The Dodgers pitchers have worn Vesia’s number as a mark of solidarity, and the Blue Jays relievers have followed their lead. Toronto pitchers Chris Bassitt, Seranthony Domínguez, Mason Fluharty, and Louis Varland all took part in the tribute during Game 6 in Toronto.
