PITTSBURGH — The Pitt men’s basketball team overcame an early deficit with a decisive 14-3 run to close the first half, securing a 74-59 victory over Youngstown State Monday night at the Petersen Events Center. This win extends Pitt’s streak to four consecutive season-opening victories, while Youngstown State falls to 0-1.
Youngstown State held the lead during the early part of the game, but the Panthers claimed their first advantage at 20-19 on a three-point play by Cameron Corhen. Although the Penguins quickly responded with a 6-0 run, Pitt’s strengthened defense shifted the momentum.
