After a challenging road defeat against undefeated Harvard, Dartmouth's Big Green football team is set to face the Princeton Tigers this Saturday in a determined effort to regain momentum.
Dartmouth fell 31-10 to Harvard's powerful offense and solid defense, leaving the Crimson still unbeaten. Despite the loss, the team showed resilience, particularly in the third quarter, which revealed promising signs for the Big Green.
“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” head coach Sammy McCorkle reflected. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Chris Corbo ’26, a 2024 All-Ivy First Team tight end, highlighted the offense's potential despite the setback.
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone,” Corbo stated. “We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 commended the defense's increased pressure on Harvard's quarterback and expressed hope to continue that performance against Princeton.
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing,” Johnson noted.
The Big Green looks to build on these positives as they prepare for a gritty game against Princeton, aiming to improve execution and seize momentum at every opportunity.
