Peloton has announced a recall of nearly 900,000 Original Series Bike+ units due to safety concerns involving the seat post. Customers are urged to stop using the bike immediately to avoid injury risks.
The recall affects approximately 833,000 units sold in the United States and 44,800 units in Canada. The company received three reports of seat posts breaking, which creates a risk of falling and injury for users.
“As part of Peloton’s commitment to product safety and our loyal Members, we are voluntarily recalling certain seat posts on Peloton Original Series Bike+ models manufactured from December 2019 through July 2022, in cooperation with the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission),” the company stated on its website.
Peloton advises customers to contact the company to receive a free replacement seat post. No injuries related to the Canadian units have been reported, but Canadian customers are also included in the recall as a precaution.
“The recall is due to the fact that the Original Series Bike+ seat post assembly can break during use, posing fall and injury hazards to the user,” Peloton added.
Peloton’s voluntary recall reflects its dedication to member safety by addressing a critical defect in the Original Series Bike+ seat post that could cause falls and injuries.
