Peloton recalls 833,000 bikes after reports of injuries

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has urged Peloton users to stop using certain bikes immediately. The company is recalling approximately 833,000 of its original Bike+ models after reports that the seat posts may break during use.

According to the CPSC, Peloton received three complaints related to the issue, two of which involved user injuries. The bikes affected were sold between January 2020 and April 2025.

"The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities," said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s SVP of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety. "We are making replacement seat posts available to all affected Bike+ users and encourage them to contact us to receive the redesigned part as soon as possible."

This is not the first recall for Peloton. In 2023, the company recalled about 2.2 million exercise bikes after similar safety complaints. The latest recall comes as Peloton faces ongoing challenges, including leadership changes and workforce reductions, while it works to recover sales following a post-pandemic slowdown.
