Gavin and Stacey Star Alison Steadman Shares Health Update After Fall

Alison Steadman, 79, revealed she is recovering after a serious fall earlier this year that left her in a wheelchair. The actress, famous for her role as Pam Shipman in the BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey, tripped on uneven pavement at a restaurant in Dubai.

As a result, she fractured her leg and broke her hand. Six months after the accident, Alison shared how her recovery has been progressing.

“That fall was just terrible, shocking – it was an awful time. I’ve got to have another operation on my foot soon, to take the metal screws out of it. But I’ve finally just stopped using a stick, which is great – I am walking again, hurrah!”

When the accident was first revealed, Alison said she knew it was serious immediately:

“I knew when I fell that it was serious. If I’d banged my head the way I banged my foot, I promise you, I would not be here. Every time I get fed up, I say that to myself. The important thing is that I’m alive.”

She also expressed some frustration with the pace of her recovery but remains positive. Alison is also known for her role as Mrs Bennet in the BBC’s 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries.

Summary

Alison Steadman is gradually recovering from a severe fall that caused multiple injuries, remaining thankful to be alive while continuing her rehabilitation with optimism.
