According to court records obtained by CBC News, the alleged assault took place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Smith has been ordered not to contact the victim, whose identity remains confidential due to a publication ban.
“We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously. We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved.”
The company managing the show’s production and related ventures confirmed that Smith has “stepped away” from his role as managing director. They added,
“Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”
