Mike Smith, known for his role as Bubbles on the Canadian TV show Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault. Halifax Regional Police filed the charge on October 2, according to court documents in Nova Scotia’s provincial court, as reported by the Globe & Mail.
The alleged assault dates back to December 2017, but the charging documents do not provide further specifics about the incident. These allegations have yet to be proven in court.
“We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously,” said a statement from Trailer Park Boys Inc., the show's production company.
“We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”
Following the charge, Smith has stepped down from his role as managing director of Trailer Park Boys Inc.
Smith is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
