LSU student and sports influencer Peighton Tubre publicly addressed widespread rumors claiming she had an affair with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The speculation began after an article appeared on Facebook alleging the two had been seen entering a hotel together the night before one of his games.
“I’d like to address some of the fake news that has been circulating about me on the internet,”
Tubre said in a video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday, November 6.
“Recently, there was an article posted on Facebook saying that I was having an affair with Garrett Nussmeier and that we were seen entering a hotel room together the night before one of his games.”
She admitted she initially hoped the false story would fade, but it quickly spread across social media.
“Spoiler alert, everyone saw it. People are blowing up my phone, people are reaching out to my family members, which is really weird,”
she added, explaining how the incident grew beyond her control.
The controversy intensified when another article claimed she had exchanged inappropriate photos with Nussmeier, who is engaged.
“So today, somebody sends me another article that they posted saying that Garret sent me unsolicited photos that made me uncomfortable, and I posted the screenshots on social media, which, if you follow me, you know I didn’t post anything like that,”
Tubre clarified, denying posting or receiving such content.
Tubre firmly denied all online rumors linking her romantically to quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, calling the allegations fabricated and harmful.
