New Toyota HiLux Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal
Toyota’s best-selling ute has been leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, revealing a drastically redesigned new-generation model.
Images posted on Instagram by bfmsoficial, originally from a video published before the embargo by Auto Societies and later removed, showcase the updated HiLux ahead of today’s official reveal. The new model features a major facelift.
Design and Features
The platform and cabin from the A- to the C-pillars remain the same as the current model, but the front end has been completely redesigned. It now sports slim headlights, a squared-off grille, and sharp angular edges. The rear is tougher-looking with a “TOYOTA” embossed tailgate.

Variants and Powertrains
- Several new HiLux versions have been spotted, including the ‘Prerunner,’ ‘Overland,’ and ‘4Trex.’
- There is also an electric variant rumored to be called the ‘Travo-e.’
- All non-electric models use a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, likely a carry-over of the ‘1GD-FTV’ engine commonly found in Australian HiLux models.
Australian government approval documents have already surfaced, showing the inclusion of the 2.8-litre engine for the new model.
