Avalanche Journal: Fans aren’t only ones excited to meet Rebecca Yarros at ‘Fourth Wing’ night

Avalanche Journal: Excitement Builds for 'Fourth Wing' Night

Brock Nelson discovered the character Violet Sorrengail while browsing a bookstore in Toronto with former New York Islanders teammate Matt Martin. Similarly, Scott Wedgewood became captivated by the world-building and dragon-riding romantasy of “Fourth Wing” during a drive from Michigan to Denver.

Over 2,500 fans purchased special tickets for “Fourth Wing” night on Thursday at Ball Arena to celebrate Rebecca Yarros’ first novel in the “Empyrean” series. The excitement is not limited to fans alone; Yarros, a Colorado Springs resident and hockey mother, is also eagerly anticipated.

“I’m pumped for that night, the jersey, having Rebecca there,” Nelson said. “I’m hoping I get to meet her. It’s cool to have that connection now.”
“Last year, I remember somebody was like, ‘Hey, did you see the author of ‘Fourth Wing’ was at one of your games?’ I had no idea. Then I saw that she’s a huge fan. Fast forward to now with ‘Fourth Wing’ night, and it’s pretty cool.”

The Yarros family are devoted Avalanche supporters, though Rebecca’s husband, originally from the East Coast, is a longtime Rangers fan. They attended a game in Denver last season when the idea of her throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park was discussed.
