In September, it was announced that Sara Cox would take part in the Great Northern Marathon Challenge for Children in Need. The BBC Radio 2 presenter plans to cover more than 130 miles while carrying Pudsey Bear to Pudsey.
The challenge kicks off on Monday, November 10, as part of the campaign to raise funds for the charity.
“Over 130 miles on foot, carrying Pudsey bear to Pudsey. Sara’s Great Northern Marathon Challenge for Children in Need will kick off on Monday 10th November!”
Fans quickly shared their support for Cox’s efforts on social media.
BBC Radio 2 encouraged listeners to keep up with her preparations, writing on Instagram:
“It's a week to go until Sara’s Children in Need Challenge so she’s using every opportunity to train! #SaraCIN.”
Nineteen hours before the start, Cox posted an update on Instagram, reflecting on her upcoming challenge and interacting with fans.
“Complete the following sentence: BY THIS TIME NEXT WEEK…. I’ll go first… I’ll be up in Kielder in the Borders, getting my head together, overthinking what sports bra to start off in & slightly cacking myself ahead of @bbccin GREAT NORTHERN MARATHON CHALLENGE! Yours?”
Supporters responded with messages of encouragement, including one fan who said:
“I’ll be starting a new job. Such dedication, be so proud of yourself.”
TV presenter Emma Willis added her support:
“You’ve got this.”
