Blair Academy standout Deron Rippey Jr., a five-star guard and the top-ranked point guard in the Class of 2026, is preparing to narrow his list of preferred colleges to five programs. Although the NCAA Early Signing Period begins this week, Rippey does not yet have a set timeline for making his college decision.
Currently, Rippey is considering nine schools: Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State, Miami, Texas, Tennessee, Syracuse, and Louisville. His final list will be announced soon.
“We are going to narrow out a Top Five. We are in no rush,” said his father, Deron Rippey Sr.
“It was good, they kind of wanted to sell me on their brand. They told me they want me to come in and be that starting guy at the point guard position, showing what Kentucky basketball stands for even after Coach Cal left for the Mark Pope era.”
When asked if Kentucky was prioritizing him, Rippey replied, “Yeah, for sure.”
“Duke obviously loves my game. They said they’ve never recruited a point guard with my skill set, so I’m going down there to see what they have in store. They produce a lot of NBA players, almost like a factory — obviously a Blue Blood.”
Deron Rippey Jr., a top 2026 point guard, is finalizing his Top Five schools as he evaluates major basketball programs like Duke and Kentucky before making a college commitment.
