Raonoke Airport Reopens Runway
Raonoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport reopened a runway on October 6, weeks after a commuter jet overshot it and was stopped by the Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS).
Repairs to the runway safety infrastructure will take months, according to reports.
- CommuteAir ERJ145 flight 4339, operating as United Express, overshot the runway on September 24.
- The EMAS safety system stopped the jet.
- Replacement EMAS blocks are expected to take months to arrive and be installed.
