Proposal for Hampshire Post-16 and School Transport Policies
Parents could soon be asked for their views on Hampshire County Council’s School Transport and Post-16 Transport Policies for 2026/27.
The authority is set to propose consulting on changes to its current policies later this month. These changes are separate from those recently approved by the Cabinet and are not expected to lead to any savings.
Transport Services
The county council operates two transport services:
- School transport service: provides free transport to children aged five to 16 who meet national eligibility criteria.
- Post-16 service: a chargeable service available under certain conditions to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Changes to the policies are expected to be proposed for the 2026/27 academic year.
