Fire officials with the Minnesota Incident Command System (MNICS) report that the Crosby Fire is now 70% contained.
The wildfire, started by a lightning strike, has grown to 300 acres. On Sunday, Oct. 8, it was 50% contained.
Firefighters will continue to establish a containment line around the wildfire and engage in mop-up efforts to extinguish hotspots. A helicopter has assisted in response efforts by dropping water.
The wildfire is located near the Caribou River, approximately 9 miles west of Schroeder, in a remote ridge area of the state park. The steep terrain is making response efforts difficult.
A section of the Superior Hiking Trail remains closed due to the fire.
