Boeing has revealed a concept for a tiltrotor drone wingman to support the Army's helicopter fleet.
Renderings of the CxR aircraft were showcased at the Association of the U.S. Army's conference in Washington, featuring a potential robot wingman for the Army's helicopter fleet.
"We see a lot of demand in that RSTA mission: reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and attack,"
according to Chris Speights, chief engineer for Boeing's vertical lift division. The company's pitch would place unmanned vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft alongside Army helicopters in combat and cargo operations.
The Army is rushing to field unmanned drones, and Boeing's concept aims to provide options and flexibility for future missions.
