Changes to Champions League Format
The Champions League format will undergo another change in the 2027/28 season, with Liverpool and other teams having to adapt to a new fixture rule.
The current format, which features a 36-team table, has been deemed a positive change after its introduction. However, UEFA and representative clubs have decided to make further alterations.
Starting from the 2024/25 season, the number of Champions League fixtures was increased from six to eight, with four home and four away matches.
Another change is coming, and Liverpool fans will have to get used to it.
Liverpool had previously topped the table in the new-look league stage, only to be eliminated by eventual winners PSG in the last-16.
