Deadly Family Argument in West Phoenix
One man is dead and another is in custody after a family argument in west Phoenix turned deadly on Sunday night, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, 31-year-old Brandon Alvarez was arrested for shooting and killing his stepfather, Jaunarius Moreno.
Alvarez faces second-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting, police said. He had called 911 operators and told them he shot his 57-year-old stepfather.
- Officers responded to a home near 39th and Maryland avenues for reports of a shooting around 7:35 p.m.
- Moreno was found in the backyard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Phoenix Fire Department.
Authorities reported the incident and the arrest of Brandon Alvarez.
