Former Olympic Coach Charged with Child Sex Offences

Jose Vicente Leiva-Modahl, 65, a former Olympic coach, has been charged with 19 sex offences by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The charges relate to alleged offences against one woman between 2012 and 2024. Modahl, also known as Vicente Modahl, is the husband of former Commonwealth Games 800m champion Diane Modahl.

Modahl appeared in Manchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, where he was granted conditional bail ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 18.

No pleas were indicated during the 15-minute hearing.
